06/21/2011 9:11 AM - The NWI White Sox 10u Softball team recently were crowned champions in two recent tournaments and finished runner-up in another. The Sox finished in first place at the PFX Tour / Border Battle of the I's tournament (which was held in Crown Point on June 10th-12th) and at the Memorial Day Classic (in Portage Indiana May 27th-29th). On June 3rd-5th the NWI White Sox team traveled to Normal Illinois to play in a very tough ASA National Qualifying Tournament. The Sox finished in 2nd place, coming up a little short in the championship game, losing to the New Lenox Lightning 2 to 1. Key players so far this year have been SS Allison Snyder (Munster), Snyder has a .775 Batting Avg. and has hit seven Home Runs, and pitcher Jessie Kiefor (Schererville) who has a record of 21 wins and 5 losses, with an ERA. of .892.
