Mariel played for the Bulls/Sox Academy from ages 15 to 18. She went on to play for a Division II college in the Great Lakes Valley Conference; Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC) as a corner/catcher. She was in the top 10, in seven out of 10 categories while at KWC. She finished her career number one with the highest fielding percentage in the history of KWC softball. KWC named her the Mouth of the South for her vocal leadership on the field.
Mariel has been both an assistant and head coach at the BSA since 2006. She has 10 years of experience working closely with elite softball players. She has been a part of a winning program and assisted her team in winning several Metro tournaments. She is a hitting/fielding instructor for BSA as well.
Coach Hamer currently works for Chicago Public schools (CPS) as an administrator in CPS central office. She supports 336 schools and over 22,000 students with disabilities. She obtained her Bachelors degree in Fitness and Sports Management and her Masters degree in Human Service Administration.
