Billy Malone is the Lead instructor for Hitting and Fielding at
the Academy. Malone brings an extensive college and seven year professional background to the cage each and every
day. His knowledge of the game and the various techniques
he has learned over the years makes the athletes he works
with become better all-round ball players. Malone, who has worked as a private instructor for the Academy since 2002, has coached at the collegiate level and has helped numerous players move on to the next level of their baseball career. Malone played collegiately at the College of DuPage, where he was a 2000 NJCAA All- American infielder. He transferred to
NAIA Robert Morris in 2001 where he was a starting shortstop and a 20th round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers. After a few years in the Dodgers organization, Malone played for a number of independent professional teams including two local teams, Gary Southshore Railcats and Schaumburg Flyers of the Northern League. Billy was a two-time Golden League All-Star (Yuma Scorpions) and in 2005 was privileged enough to share the honor with Major League Baseball Hall of Famer,Rickey Henderson.
