Former Sox Slugger Dan Pasqua Named Glen Ellyn and LaGrange Director

03/31/2014 10:39 AM -

LISLE, IL. – The Bulls/Sox Academy announced today that former White Sox slugger, Dan Pasqua, has been named the new Academy Director for two Bulls/Sox Academy locations: Glen Ellyn Bulls/Sox Academy located at 800 St. Charles Road and the La Grange Bulls/Sox Academy located at 536 East Ave.

Dan Pasqua has been working with the White Sox for the past seven years and joined the Bulls/Sox Academy over five years ago as a private instructor. Dan will be heading back to oversee the La Grange Academy where he was Director from October 2011 until December 2012 when he moved his expertise to the Lisle facility. In addition to La Grange, Pasqua’s new role has added the responsibility of running the Glen Ellyn Bulls/Sox Academy. Dan will oversee all baseball and fastpitch programming at both Academy locations, with his main responsibility developing ball players through private and semi-private training lessons.

“I am looking forward to sharing my experience of playing major league baseball with the youth of Glen Ellyn, La Grange and all the surrounding communities,” said Pasqua. “I can’t thank the Bulls/Sox Academy enough for this great opportunity to continue use my skills to educate the athletes of the Chicagoland area.”

Dan Pasqua was a left-handed power-hitting outfielder and first baseman known for hitting tape-measure home runs for the White Sox from 1988 to 1994. In 1988, Pasqua led the White Sox with 20 home runs; in 1989 he hit the second-to-last roof shot at old Comiskey Park and in 1991 hit a home run 484 feet – which still ranks among the top five longest home runs in U.S. Cellular Field history. Over his 10 year major-league career, Pasqua appeared in 905 games with the Yankees and White Sox, where he slugged 117 home runs and 390 RBI.

The Bulls/Sox Academy is also pleased to announce that Gerry Novak will be assisting Dan Pasqua as the new Satellite Manager for the La Grange and Glen Ellyn facilities. Coach Novak is coming up on his tenth year working on the Bulls/Sox Academy coaching staff. Having played various positions throughout his playing career, Gerry has an all-around ‘feel’ for the game. He is qualified to teach the finer points of any aspect of baseball and is looking forward to passing down his baseball knowledge to the future All-Stars in the local areas.

Gerry Novak attended Romeoville High School where he earned All-Area and All-Conference selection during his senior year. He continued his baseball career for the Joliet Junior Wolves where he batted .371 with 20 stolen bases, and was selected to the All-Conference and All-Region teams as a sophomore. Novak went on to play for the North Central Cardinals from 2005-2006. Coach Gerry was named the Cardinals Outfield Coach in 2007, and the Varsity Outfield and Hitting Coach at Plainfield East from 2010-2012.

The Bulls/Sox Academy, located in Lisle, Illinois, is owned and operated by the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox. The Academy runs extensive training programs in basketball, baseball, fastpitch softball, and sports conditioning for boys and girls from beginner to professional. There are additional Academy locations in Glen Ellyn and La Grange. For more information, please visit or call 630-324-8221.
