News:Good Luck to 16UEG player Blaire Browne from Marist High School as she competes for the IHSA Super Sectional Championship! Game will be held at Rosemont Stadium at 6:30pm on 6/5/17.

News: Good luck to 16UKK players Nellie Kamenitsa-Hale and Carly Tucci of Oak Park River Forest High School as they compete for the IHSA Super Sectional Championship.

News: Alyssa Malicki was named the MVP of the Midwest Suburban Conference! She plays for Ridgewood High School and our 16UEG Fastpitch team. Way to go Alyssa!

News: Riley Regnier hit 2 homers to win the Sectional Championship at Wilmot High School! She is headed to the "State" Championship (WI)! Regnier plays for our 18U-MK #Fastpitch team

Mention: “It’s not like the other teams in the sectional were going to roll over, but a sectional final showdown between the Central and Wilmot softball teams felt preordained for weeks now. It will happen today. The top-seeded Falcons (21-5) and second-seeded Panthers (19-4) will meet at 4:30 p.m. at Burlington with a spot in the WIAA Division-1 State Tournament on the line.”

Article: Olivia Glass breaks out with HRs as OPRF cruises to sectional final
Mention:   Junior left fielder and backup catcher Olivia Glass, batting seventh in a loaded Huskies lineup, smacked two opposite field home runs Tuesday in OPRF's four-inning 15-0 win over upstart Evanston in a Class 4A Niles North Sectional semifinal.

Mention: “No. 5 seed Downers Grove North had to go extra innings against No. 3 Plainfield East in a Class 4A regional final May 27 at Downers North, but the Trojans pushed two runs across in the top of the 10th inning for a 4-2 win.”

Article: Softball: Erickson sparks Kaneland into sectional final
Mention: “Then Morgan Weber (3-for-4), who had also singled, came home on a groundout by Lexi Abruzzo to make it a 5-4 game.” “After Erickson's RBI single scored Abruzzo (2 hits) to make it 6-5, Kraemer drove in Hannah Theobald (single) with a sacrifice fly, Jesionowski (2 hits) scored on an error, courtesy runner Cassidy Motyka came home on a squeeze bunt by Roach and Weber drove in Kaitlyn Kurzrock with another single to give Kaneland a 10-5 lead.”

Article: Prep softball: Lockport beats Lincoln-Way Central in sectional semifinals
Mention: “Taylor Herschbach enjoyed a memorable day, going 3 for 4 with two homers and three RBIs. She hadn’t hit a homer this season, and this was also the first time that she ever hit two home runs in a contest.” “After they hit back-to-back homers in the first inning, we weren’t intimidated since we knew what we could do since all season long we’ve hit really well,” Herschbach said. “I’ve never had more fun playing. There’s been so much energy in these games and I’ve just been having a blast, and I know that everyone else has been, too. On both home runs that I hit, I was sprinting around the bases. Our biggest strength is that we all have each others backs.”

Article:  Softball: St. Francis wins regional title in rout
Mention: “I think that it's really good that we can get a start like that and then just keep going from there," said Spartans center fielder Kristina Sherwin, who drove home the game's first run with an RBI double and then added a bunt single to give her two hits in the first inning. "It really helps us when we get runs in the first inning and shut them down quick with our defense."

Athlete: Lexi Bowdish (16U-EG)
Article: Panthers open floodgates in fifth inning, pound Blue Devils
Mention: In the middle of that hit brigade was Panthers third baseman Lexi Bowdish, who was 3-for-3 with two runs, a double and a pair of RBIs.

Mention: "Pitching to York junior Kyra Kroll is always a challenge. Inside or out, high or low, she's likely to get her bat on the ball, put it in play and make something happen on the basepaths."

Article: Geneva wins 20th in a row, snaps West Aurora's 31-game UEC streak
Mention: "Thanks to freshman pitcher Emily Viebrock and some flawless plays by her defense behind her, it is Geneva now with 20 wins in a row while handing West Aurora its first conference loss in three seasons, 2-0."

Article: Fall perfect again for 20-win Somonauk
Mention: "Somonauk Lady Bobcats ace Tayler Fall worked her second perfect game of the past three weeks Friday, tossing a flawless five innings in her team's 10-0 blanking of visiting Kirkland Hiawatha."

Athlete: Rachel Trader (16U-KK)
Article: Morris softball bounces back with shutout win vs. Ottawa
Mention: "That brought up the Morris cleanup hitter, junior Rachel Trader. On the first pitch, the squeeze bunt sign was on, but Trader bunted foul. After taking another strike, Trader got a pitch she could handle and hit a fly to left. Gerischer tagged and scored, giving Morris a 1-0 lead."

Athlete: Jessica Kramp (16U-KK - Travel Team)
Mention: "St. Edward 18, Timothy Christian 0: Jessy Kramp tossed a no-hitter for the Green Wave (4-10), striking out 13 and walking two, Kramp also had 3 hits including a double and triple and drove in three runs. Emily Stapay scored three runs and drove in two for St. Edward, who capitalized on 12 walks and 7 errors.

Athlete: Emily Vierbrock (16U-KK - Travel Team)
Mention: "Geneva 12, Streamwood 2: The Vikings (11-2, 5-0) scored 3 runs in the first, third, forth, and fifth innings for the Upstate Eight Conference River win. Emily Viebrock improved to 6-0. Katie Keller homered and doubled twice. Molly Wreen and Alyssa Kramer also had doubles."

Athlete: Rachel Martinez (16U-EG/JF - Travel Team)
Mention: "In Varsity Softball action last week, the Friars (5-1-1) defeated De La Salle 6-1. Grace Tucek got the win, striking out 11. Giselle Diaz and Tucek left the offense with multiple hits. The Friars defeated Regina 1-0 with Cassie Lee striking out 17 in the extra inning victory. Alyssa Syramaglia and Rachel Martinez hit back to back doubles to score the winning run."

Article: Softball: St. Francis Coach Remus Reaches 400 Wins
Mention: “The Spartans worked quickly in the first two innings of Game 1 scoring 10 runs on 9 hits. The big blasts were an RBI triple from Kristina Sherwin and run-scoring doubles from Josie Smith and Riley Banigan in the second.”

Article: Elena Woulfe keeps hits coming as Lockport reigns at Celtic Invitational
Mention: “While Taylor Herschbach, Tara McElligott and Emily Dybas had three hits each. Erin Kleffman pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to shut down a Downers Grove North rally and assure the win for starter Elly Hagen.

Kleffman, meanwhile, is off to a good start in her first varsity season. The sophomore right-hander is 1-0 as a starter. She entered Saturday's game with the Porters clinging to a 12-9 lead with two outs in the top of the fifth. Kleffman recorded the third out on a called third strike, then retired six of the final seven batters."I just made sure my focus was there when I came in," Kleffman said. "I had to trust myself with the pitches I was throwing. I knew my job was to come in, throw strikes and get outs. "Coming up to the varsity, it's a great feeling. Knowing the competition is strong is pushing me to work harder. It has definitely helped me build my confidence."

Article: Batavia's Lisberg throws perfect game
Mention: “Jaelen Lisberg threw a 5-inning perfect game Wednesday as the Batavia softball team defeated Elgin 12-0 in Upstate Eight River action. Lisberg struck out 9 and didn't walk a batter.”

Athlete: Hannah Theobald (16U-CV Travel Team)
Article: Kaneland Surprises West Aurora to win Fox Valley Tournament
Mention: Kaneland cleanup hitter Hannah Theobald knew she had her hands full when she stepped into the batter's box Saturday against West Aurora ace Hannah Beatus in the championship game of the Fox Valley Tournament. Theobald delivered the biggest hit of the game, a long home run over the center field fence to start the scoring in Kaneland's 2-1 victory over the fifth-ranked team in the area.”

Athlete: 16U CV Taylor Fall (16U-CV Travel Team)
Article: Fall Perfect All Around In Lady 'Cats Win
Mention: “Not only did the Somonauk junior pitcher throw a perfect game with 11 strikeouts against Serena on Thursday afternoon, but the all-state performer accented her perfection within the circle with an epic day at the plate. Fall went 3-for-4 at the dish with seven runs batted in, including an RBI groundout, a run-scoring double, a grand-slam home run and a walk-off inside-the-park homer in the bottom of the sixth that capped off an incredible individual performance and led the Lady Bobcats to a 10-0 Little Ten Conference triumph over the Lady Huskers. “

Article: Fall Rises And Lifts Lady Cats To Seneca Tourney Title
Mention: “Fall threw a whopping 16 innings within the circle, allowing just two earned runs all day while striking out 15 and walking only one as the Lady Bobcats posted a 2-1 record and a 7-1 victory over the host Lady Irish in the championship game of the proceedings.”

Article: Place-ment test: Abbey Place helps Naperville Central get back to winning ways
Mention: “In place of Stark came sophomore Halle Arends, whose increased velocity halted Benet's momentum and sealed the win.”

Athlete: Amy Kaniewski (18U Travel Team)
Munster's Amy Kaniewski strikes out 10 in rivalry win over Lake Central
Mention: “An offseason trip to Texas with the Taylor Made Titans was the wake-up call Amy Kaniewski didn’t know she wanted long before the first pitch of her junior season.
The Munster pitcher took a somewhat last-minute invitation last summer to play with the travel unit in the ASA nationals, where her team took ninth. She expected it might lead to good things in the high school season. Kaniewski certainly showed off for the Mustangs Tuesday as The Times No. 6 Munster Mustangs blanked No. 2 Lake Central 4-0 in the season opener for both teams.”
