White Sox Elite Tourney Recap #5 - 16U-GF

The White Sox Academy Elite 16U Fox and Maziur teams go combined 10-3 at the Perfect Game Super 25 Regional in Jacksonville, IL. Both teams advanced to the Semi-Finals and 16U Fox fell 6-5 in a tough loss to the Midwest Rangers.

Elias Hernandez's Effort Not Enough In The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Fox's 6-5 Loss


Hernandez racked up three RBIs on two hits for the 16U Elite-Fox. He doubled in the third and fifth innings.
The Midwest Rangers couldn't get anything going as long as Hernandez was on the rubber. Hernandez held the Midwest Rangers hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

The White Sox 16U jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third. A double by Hernandez, scoring Jose Sanchez and Jimmy Karfis started the inning off.

One the 16U Elite-Fox baserunners came all the way around to score in each of the fourth, fifth and seventh. In the fourth, the White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Fox scored on an error, bringing home Christian Erikson.

Erikson finished 1-1 with two walks and a run scored. Nick Fushi was also 1-2 with a run scored.


Pitching Picks Up The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Fox's Offense In 2-0 Victory Over Louisville Slugger Warriors

The 16U Elite-Fox didn't provide Gage Olszak with much support, but he didn't need much. Olszak pitched seven strong innings to carry them to a 2-0 win. Olszak pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on six hits while ringing up five.

Jose Sanchez had two extra-base hits for the White Sox 16U. He doubled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning. He finished with an RBI and scored a run.

The game's last lead went to the 16U Elite-Fox thanks to a third inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on an RBI triple by Sanchez.

Nico Sanchez had the other RBI and finished 1-2 with a double and run scored.


The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Fox Jump On The Midwest Eagles Select Early And Coast To 19-2 Win


With 14 runs in the first three innings, the 16U Elite-Fox left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

Elias Hernandez racked up three RBIs on two hits for the White Sox 16U. He finished 2-4 with a triple and run scored.

Jimmy Karfis and Connor Graefen got it done on the mound. They combined to pitch four innings giving up two runs on five hits and truck out three.

The White Sox 16U easily handled the Midwest Eagles Select pitching as seven hitters combined for 13 hits, 11 RBIs and 12 runs scored. Jose Sanchez was 3-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Brandt McCartney was 2-3 with a triple, RBI and run scored while Christian Erikson was also 2-3 with a double, walk, RBI and two runs scored.

Owen Waunn was a perfect 2-2 with a three RBI’s, a walk, and two runs scored.


Christian Erikson's Effort Not Enough To Carry The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Fox Past Central Illinois Arsenal, 6-3

Erikson pitched lights out for the 16U Elite-Fox. He held Central Illinois Arsenal hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

The White Sox 16U scored one run in the top of the fourth to cut their deficit to four. An RBI single by Erikson fueled the comeback.

Two runs in the top of the sixth helped the White Sox 16U close their deficit to 6-3. A passed ball and a sacrifice fly by Brandt McCartney triggered the comeback but it wouldn’t be enough.

Elias Hernandez finished 2-3 with a double and a run scored. Jimmy Karfis went 1-3 and scored two runs.


The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Fox Make The Most Of 4 Hits In 5-3 Victory Over St. Louis Shockers

Both the 16U Elite-Fox and St. Louis Shockers put runners aboard on Friday, but it was the 16U Elite-Fox that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 5-3 win.

St. Louis Shockers had six hits compared with the White Sox 16U’s four, but St. Louis Shockers stranded seven runners on base.

Nick Fushi got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered two hits. He also went 1-2 with a run scored at the plate.

The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Fox didn't relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when they scored on a two-run double by Gage Olszak.

David Rubin finished 1-2 with a walk and a run scored.  Christian Erikson also went 1-2 with two RBI’s.




The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Fox Drop 3N2 Illinois Steel 4-2

The 16U Elite-Fox's three first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 4-2 win.

They scored in the first on a fielder's choice, an RBI double by Zacary Lis, and a groundout by David Rubin.

The White Sox 16U staved off 3N2 Illinois Steel as they were unable to match the 16U Elite-Fox down the stretch. Rubin got the win for the 16U Elite-Fox. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Christian Erikson was 1-1 with an RBI and a walk while Joey Allen was 1-2 with a walk.
