The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Maziur had a successful weekend at the Perfect Game Super 25 Regional 17U. They finished 6-1 and were the #1 seed after pool play but fell short in the championship game.


The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Maziur Drop 9-7 Game To Slammers Coyote Despite Efforts Of Patrick Hayes


Hayes did all he could to give the 16U Elite-Maziur a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Slammers Coyote. He racked up three RBIs on two hits for the White Sox 16U with a single in the fourth inning and home run in the seventh inning.

The White Sox 16U scored one run in the bottom of the third to cut their deficit to five with a sacrifice fly by Giovanni Lopez.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the sixth, the 16U Elite-Maziur faced just a 7-3 deficit. A two-run single by Bryce Moskiewicz set off the rally.

Four runs in the bottom of the seventh helped the White Sox 16U close their deficit to 9-7. An RBI single by Zac Styka and a three-run home run by Hayes sparked the rally but it wouldn’t be enough.


Early Lead Gives The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Maziur Victory Over Semifinal, 10-2

The game was decided quickly as the White Sox 16U exerted their will early with nine runs in the first three innings.

Bryce Moskiewicz got the win for the White Sox 16U. He allowed two runs over four innings. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered three hits.

The 16U Elite-Maziur's Giovanni Lopez, Cullen Geary, David Ascencio and Jake Armentrout combined for six hits and eight RBIs. Geary got a hit in each of his two at bats.

After a quick strike from Semifinal, the White Sox 16U responded with four runs in the third. They scored on an RBI single by Moskiewicz, a walk by Geary, a sacrifice fly by Jake Armentrout, and a sacrifice fly by Ascencio.


The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Maziur Fifth-Inning Burst Enough To Top Quarterfinal, 9-1

The game was never in doubt after the first, as the White Sox 16U scored four runs on a sacrifice fly by David Ascencio, a sacrifice fly by Patrick Hayes, and an RBI single by Jake Karczewski.

A five-run explosion in the fifth inning hoisted the 16U Elite-Maziur to a 9-1 win in five innings over Quarterfinal at Ho Chunk on Monday.

The White Sox 16U scored in the fifth on a two-run double by Zac Styka and a three-run double by Hayes.

Marcus Gholston put together a nice outing as he held Quarterfinal hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Charlie Wood got the win for the 16U Elite-Maziur. He allowed one run over three innings, struck out one, walked two and gave up two hits.


Third-Inning Rally Sparks Win For The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Maziur as they beat ESP Select Red, 9-1

The White Sox 16U scored four runs in the second inning and the game was never in doubt after that. They scored on a home run by David Ascencio, a fielder’s choice scored Jack Karczewski, a bases loaded walk, and a groundout.

The 16U Elite-Maziur scored in the third on an RBI single by Patrick Hayes, a three-run single by Marcus Gholston, and an RBI single by Giovanni Lopez.

The 16U Elite-Maziur were sparked by David Ascencio who got a hit in each of his one at bats. He homered in the second inning. Ascencio and Gholston also got the them going by teaming up for four hits and five RBIs.

Ryan Ruberry got the win for the White Sox 16U by going four innings giving up one run on two hits and struck out one.


The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Maziur Take Down Lou Collier A's, 10-2

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

The White Sox 16U pulled out the win thanks to a strong second inning. They scored on a two-run double by Cullen Geary bringing home Marcus Gholston and Giovanni Lopez.

In the bottom of the first, the 16U Elite-Maziur grabbed the early lead, 1-0. The attack began with a single from Lopez, a groundout by Jake Armentrout then moved Lopez from first to second. Styka singled, plating Lopez.
The 16U Elite-Maziur scored four runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Jake Karczewski and a two-run single by Charlie Wood.

The 16U Elite-Maziur's Styka was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the first and fifth innings.


The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Maziur Take Out The Lakeland Athletics With Help From Zac Styka, 5-0


Cullen Geary baffled the Lakeland Athletics, striking out six batters and gave up just three hits over five shutout innings.

The White Sox 16U never trailed after scoring two runs in the third on an RBI double by David Ascencio and a sacrifice fly by Jake Armentrout.

Jack Karczewski went 2-3 on the day while Styka went 1-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Marcus Gholston also came on in relief to pitch two innings giving up no runs and no hits while striking out two.


Jake Armentrout Stars As The White Sox Academy 16U Elite-Maziur Defeat DBA's, 9-1

Friday was a great day for Armentrout, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the 16U Elite-Maziur to a 9-1 victory.

Two pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter for the White Sox 16U. Charlie Wood put together a nice outing as he held DBA's hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out five.

Seven runs in the first three innings helped the 16U Elite-Maziur take the early lead. A two-run home run by Armentrout and a two-run single by Patrick Hayes during the first inning helped them put some runs on the board early.

Additional home runs for the White Sox 16U came when David Ascencio homered in the third inning, Zac Styka homered in the fifth inning, and Armentrout homered in the first and fifth innings.

Ascencio, Armentrout and Styka combined for seven hits and seven RBIs.

The 16U Elite-Maziur increased their lead with two runs in the fifth. Armentrout started the inning with a solo home run. That was followed up by Styka's solo blast.
