Fastpitch Travel Team Players of the Week:

  1.  Name: Kara Leckinger
  2. Team: 18U

  4. What is your favorite movie? Star Wars
  5. Who is your favorite softball player? Lauren Lappin
  6. Who is your favorite baseball player? Mike Piazza
  7. What is your favorite food? Steak
  8. What is your favorite song? Bohemian Rhapsody
  9. What is your favorite candy? Starbursts
  10. What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? I think of what I’m going to do that day and who I’ll influence. It may be what I’ll get accomplished that day, maybe it’s school work or how I’m going to overcome a bad test grade, but overall how I’ll make a difference.
  11. In a movie of my life I’d be played by? Jennifer Lawrence. I like her bravery in Hunger Games and how she presents herself.
  12. My favorite activity outside of softball is... I enjoy cooking and traveling. I like to experience new cultures through food and love seeing new places. I also play the violin!
  13. When not playing softball I am usually… Hanging out with my family, we watch a lot of movies. I spend time playing with my golden retriever and being active. I also like spending time with my friends.
  14. Who is the most influential person in your life? Why? My parents, they really have helped me develop every aspect of my life, giving me confidence and reassurance. I owe a lot of my success to them.
  15. What is your personal goal this season? Why? I want to keep hitting consistently and keep driving balls in the gaps. I want to add power to my hits, getting deeper doubles and home runs.
  16. What is the greatest strength of your team this year? We have really good players and with the experience collectively we can zone in a have a good season.  We cheer each other on and pick each other back up when we’re down.
  17. Two things I’ve learned from the Bulls Sox Academy are… Hard work. Coming into the academy at 12 I have come a long way due to the training and the confidence in myself to get better. The hard work has made me a better player and person who is coming to practice to get better. Also, I’ve learned to be heads up smart when playing the game. They have taught me the mental game and the confidence I have in certain situations I owe to them.

  10. What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? Getting out of bed and brushing my teeth.
  11. In a movie of my life I’d be played by? Sophia Bush
  12. My favorite activity outside of softball is… Spending time with my friends and family.
  13. When not playing softball I am usually… Hanging out with my brother and sister.
  14. Who is the most influential person in your life? Why? My mom, she encourages me to be a better person and athlete on and off the field.
  15. What is your personal goal this season? Why? I want to better everyone around me, not just myself.
  16. What is the greatest strength of your team this year? Hitting, we hit well.
  17. Two things I’ve learned from the Bulls Sox Academy are… You can have a family outside of your own family, the people I’ve met at the academy are like my family. Also, I've learned how to better myself, on and off the softball field.

  9. What is your favorite candy? Hot Tamales
  10. What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? Honestly the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning is food, the first thing that comes to mind is: what am I going to eat this morning?
  11. In a movie of my life I’d be played by? I’m not 100% sure but I mean I think Beyoncé playing me would be pretty awesome.
  12. My favorite activity outside of softball is… Probably basketball because I get to use my aggressive side and stay in shape.
  13. When not playing softball I am usually… I’m usually spending time with my friends or just drawing.
  14. Who is the most influential person in your life? Why? I can’t really choose just one. My parents influence me the most because they never let the negative outweigh the positives in life.
  15. What is your personal goal this season? Why? My goal for this season is to have less than 20 strike outs throughout the whole season.
  16. What is the greatest strength of your team this year? Our greatest strength is probably being so close because it helps us play as a team and being so close gives us the confidence to push each other to be our best on and off the field.
  17. Two things I’ve learned from the Bulls Sox Academy are… The first thing I have learned from Bulls/Sox is that things aren’t just handed to you. You have to work really hard for what you want. The second thing I have learned from Bulls/Sox is how to be disciplined on and off the field. I’ve learned to hold myself to a higher standard and make sure I work hard no matter what I am doing.

  9. What is your favorite candy? Sour patch kids
  10. What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? When I wake up in the morning the first thing I think of is food because I’m always hungry.
  11. In a movie of my life I’d be played by? Geena Davis would play me because she is the actress in “A League of Their Own” that played Dottie.
  12. My favorite activity outside of softball is… Volleyball. I play at the sand courts with friends since I used to play volleyball.
  13. When not playing softball I am usually... I’m usually hanging with friends or resting up on the couch watching Netflix.
  14. Who is the most influential person in your life? Why? My parents are the most influential people in my life because they made me the player and person I am today. Their hard work shows through me and I’m very thankful for them.
  15. What is your personal goal this season? Why? My personal goal is to find the right college for me so I can get an education while continuing my softball career.
  16. What is the greatest strength of your team this year? The greatest strength of the 16UKK team is that we’re all athletic and can play many positions rather than single ourselves to one. Also our team is led by great coaches that know our abilities and where to place us.
  17. Two things I’ve learned from the Bulls Sox Academy are… To always say “yes coach” in response to a coach as it is a sign of respect and simply to always work hard because that will transfer onto the field.

  9. What is your favorite candy? Sour patch
  10. What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? “Today is a new day, whatever happened yesterday happened. It’s over and done with, but today, try my hardest and the best will come out of it.”
  11. In a movie of my life I’d be played by... Shailene Woodley. She is a fun, tough and sweet actress and just sums me up!
  12. My favorite activity outside of softball is… Reading, drawing, watching endless hours of Disney movies and being with family and friends.
  13. When not playing softball I am usually… I am usually at home relaxing by watching movies. However, my dad makes it routine to not make myself too comfy, because he might say in ten minutes we are off to the park to practice!
  14. Who is the most influential person in your life? Why? My parents. Even though we don’t see eye to eye on some things (like if I kept my hands too far away from my body when batting), they always push me and give me confidence every day to get better, even outside of softball!
  15. What is your personal goal this season? Why? My personal goal this season is to do my best and shine. The reason why I want to shine more than I ever have     before is because I have hopes to play in college and hope to get looked at this summer.
  16. What is the greatest strength of your team this year? Our teamwork. When a girls is down on herself, someone is always there to pick her back up and get her ready for that next at bat or play.
  17. Two things I’ve learned from the Bulls Sox Academy are… To work hard every day and to call the ball!! “BALL, BALL, BALL!!”

  8. What is your favorite song? Fly Away
  9. What is your favorite candy? Sour patch kids
  10. What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? I think of what I will have to do throughout the day.
  11. In a movie of my life I’d be played by? I would pick my little sister to play me.
  12. My favorite activity outside of softball is… I like writing stories a lot, and reading!
  13. When not playing softball I am usually… I’m usually hanging out with my friends.
  14. Who is the most influential person in your life? Why? I would say my dad, he always motivates me!
  15. What is your personal goal this season? Why? I want to be more coachable. I want to learn new things and be positive throughout the season.
  16. What is the greatest strength of your team this year? We can all hit the ball!
  17. Two things I’ve learned from the Bulls Sox Academy are… I’ve focused on my fundamentals at BSA and the coaches are always there to help, for example to correct my throws and keep working with me until I get it right.

  6. Who is your favorite baseball player? I don’t really have one!
  7. What is your favorite food? Watermelon
  8. What is your favorite song? T-Shirt
  9. What is your favorite candy? Skittles
  10. What’s the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? The first thing I ask myself is what time did I wake up at and I check to see if my mom called me.
  11. In a movie of my life I’d be played by? I think Jennifer Lawrence would play me, I really like her!
  12. My favorite activity outside of softball is… Horseback riding, it’s really fun!
  13. When not playing softball I am usually… I’m usually outside with my donkey, Ginger, and horse named Remington, or hanging out with my friends.
  14. Who is the most influential person in your life? Why? My mom, she does everything for me and is such a positive person and role model.
  15. What is your personal goal this season? Why? A personal goal of mine is to become a good catcher and work on my framing and sticking. I want to be able to help my teammates on the field.
  16. What is the greatest strength of your team this year? Our greatest strength this year is our hitting. We’ve been getting really good at hitting this season
  17. Two things I’ve learned from the Bulls Sox Academy are… One big thing I have learned this year is how to catch in the catcher’s position. Also they taught me fielding on transfers. My other coach taught me differently and this new way of teaching has worked out so much better for me!
