Brock Jessup hits and pitches the White Sox Academy Elite 13U to 5-4 victory in First Team Championship at Ho Chunk Spring Classic
An impressive two-way performance from Brock Jessup led the White Sox Academy Elite 13U to a 5-4 championship win Sunday NWI Shockers at the Ho Chunk Spring Classic. Jessup came up huge at the plate and on the mound. Jessup went 1-1, droving in one and scoring one run and pitched lights out for the White Sox Academy Elite 13U holding NWI Shockers hitless over four innings, allowing no earned runs, walking none and striking out six.
Emmett Olson drove in eventual winning run the in the sixth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. With the score tied at four in the sixth inning, Emmett came to the plate and singled hard driving in Sebastian Cabeza who hit a clutch two run double to earlier tie up the contest.
“This whole tournament was a total team effort and the kids played very well”, said team Manager Richie Serritella. Serritella stated, “The boys were loose and relaxed before the championship and certainly kept fighting throughout the game, I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
Early lead gives the Bulls/Sox Academy Elite 13U victory over Indiana Elite, 12-0
The WhiteSox Academy Elite 13U team jumped out to an early lead on Indiana Elite and captured a 12-0 victory on Saturday at Ho Chunk. The game was decided quickly as the White Sox Academy Elite 13U scored early and often with eight runs in the first three innings.
An RBI double by Sebastian Cabeza and an RBI single by Alex Calarco in the first inning and a groundout by Matt Felske during the second inning fueled the Bulls/Sox Academy Elite 13U's offense early. Trey Rucker did his best to jumpstart the offense for the team, reaching base three times. He scored three runs and had two RBIs. He homered in the third inning.
Indiana Elite's lineup had no answer for Mason Graham. Graham held Indiana Elite hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.
The White Academy Elite 13U built upon their lead with five runs in the third. A two-run home run by Rucker ignited the offense scoring Graham. That was followed up by Adam Dowler's double, bringing home Cabeza. The Sox Elite squad piled on four more runs in the top of the fourth. A passed ball scored Tylor Phommachanhom for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Sebastian's double, scoring Graham.
The White Sox Academy Elite 13U make the most of 7 hits in 8-5 victory over Barnstormers
The White Sox Academy Elite 13U and Barnstormers both threatened with rallies, but it was the White Sox Academy Elite 13U eventually taking advantage in an 8-5 win. Trey Rucker racked up three RBIs on one hit for the White Sox Academy Elite 13U. He homered in the fifth inning.
Noah Schnell pitched lights out for the Bulls/Sox Academy Elite 13U. Barnstormers managed just one hit off of the White Sox Academy Elite 13U's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out six during his three innings of work.
The Bulls/Sox Academy Elite 13Usurvive NWI Shockers rally, escape with 9-7 victory
NWI Shockers was never able to get over the hump and overcome its troubles against the White Sox Academy Elite 13U on Sunday as the Academy team held on for a 9-7 victory. White Sox Elite pitcher, Matt Felske picked up the win and drove in two RBI. Catcher Alex Calarco had a perfect game at the plate going 3-3 with two runs scored and first baseman Emmett Olson contributed two hits and an RBI.
Mason Graham contributed both on the mound and at the plate. Graham was 2-3 with an RBI and closed the game for the Sox Elite squad throwing one pitch which ended up a double play to end the game.
